Incredibly sad, incredibly good read. highly recommended. Psyched for the movie. This short clip sums up every thing so heartbreaking and wrong about the situation in the book.
My interpretation is that the trilogy centers on how the greatest monstrosity of war is sacrificing innocents in war (especially children) and that we only destroy ourselves by harming children. War means sacrifice, by the people who fight, who die, who win, who lose. But how much is acceptable to sacrifice? The Hunger Games series seems to cry out that no matter what cause you are pursuing, no cause justifies the death of those who had no hand in the disputes of their elders, who have committed no wrong but are caught in the crossfire or punished for crimes they did not commit. And all too often who are these people? Beautiful, innocent children who are taught to hate, not born hating. It is a strange miracle it is, that children have to be taught to hate, but are born loving. I hope that if you read or have read this series it changes your life the way it did mine. It leaves me with an empty sad feeling, but with an inspiration to write.
Note: this does not count as the song of the week. All songs of the week will be titled as so. Will begin working on 2nd chapter of my stories.
