That time of year again... The San Diego County Fair!

If you live in San Diego County and have not gone to this fair at least once, you are not a local. Okay maybe that is an exaggeration, but really the fair is amazing. Up until a year or two ago the fair was known as the Del Mar Fair, for obvious reasons, as it was located in Del Mar. Anyways, every year there is a different theme, one year it was Dr. Seuss, as a memorial to the very cherished local and children's book author. This year it is race to the fair, with racing flags and cars plentiful thoughout the fair. Their are numerous contest in which you can enter in art, woodwork, botany, and more. My school won best in show for its newpaper, which I was a proud editor in chief of.
If you need more reasons to go, go for the food. The San Diego Fair is known for its bizarre deep fried foods, funnel cakes, and all sorts of food raging from local treats to international delights. Not to mention classic fair foods like kettle corn and cotton candy. Here are a couple pictures of just a few of the fair's specialties

Eww right

Surprisingly good, deep fried Oreos and Twinkies are offered. Also deep fried butter, but I suggest you keep away from that.
The rides offer a lot of fun excitement for thrill seekers both young and old, and for those uninterested in rides there is also games and shops galore. So come on down and enjoy this festive and exciting fair. I will be there today and can hardly wait! Ta ta for now!

Hentalia Axis Powers

So this anime/manga is quite the controversy, but honestly, I don't see what all the fuss is about. I feel that the countries personalities are slightly irritating, but the whole series overall is charming and funny. The author is clearly using typical stereotypes which I find humorous, but I can also understand that people who disagree with these stereotypes might be a little but hurt, especially since they are repeated consistently through out the series. Overall, though, the author is not really singling out any particular country, and I think some of the series's best moments are when it depicts moments of mercy, generosity, and the importance of world peace (which I do get a little vibe of here and then) and really shines a light on a particular country and why it is  so beloved by its occupants.

Vocaloid Commercial

So I absolutely positively love the vocaloid's, and I was excited to hear about the commercial by Toyota, and well, I have to say, I'm a bit let down. I was hoping to see the Miku we all know and love but no, her image was altered in a very unsatisfying way. Now I get it, that the change was to adapt to western culture, but *shiver* couldn't they have tried, I don't know, for a less intimidating look. The problem for me is not that they changed her look (believe me, I've seen all sorts of weird Miku pics), it's that they didn't portray her personality or her age very well, which is the core of Miku(I am mainly talking about that horrid picture on the site, which has been changed, thank God). Through all her different songs, in both the videos and the lyrics, she's had a laughing personality that I believe Toyota failed to capture.
Anyways, I'd like to thank all the loyal fans out there, who I'm guessing must have slammed Toyota pretty hard, because I have seen definite improvements in the commercials and on the site.
